Bowel Incontinence

Bowel incontinence is the loss of bowel control, causing passage of stools unexpectedly. This problem can range from leaking a small amount of stool while passing gas, to not being able to control bowel movements altogether.

Causes for bowel incontinence

The rectum, anus, pelvic muscles, and nervous system all work together to control bowel movements. If there is a problem with any of these organs, it can cause bowel incontinence. Many people feel embarrassed about bowel incontinence and may not tell their family or doctor. But this condition can be treated. Proper treatment can help most people gain control of their bowels. Exercises also helps the anal and pelvic muscles to get stronger.

One must consult his/her doctor if this health problem arises. Adults over the age of 65 and women are at higher risk of bowel incontinence.

Inner wear from Pristine Life is not appropriate for bowel incontinence. They are meant for urinary incontinence with up to 45ml of leakage.
